ABILENE, TX, JUNE 18, 2012: Lauren Engineers & Constructors (LEC) was recently selected to receive the Excellence in Construction Award from Associated Builders and Contractors. This highly competitive award is bestowed annually on a few select projects that display an unswerving commitment to quality, safety and project innovation.

“The Excellence in Construction program recognizes ABC members working together to build safe, successful projects on time and within budget,” said Bill Anderson, ABC of Georgia president.

According to ABC, The EIC program highlights the innovation, quality and vision of a winning project’s construction team – contractors, architects, engineers, owners and others. The competition was fierce among the projects entered by general and specialty contractors. Entries were evaluated on criteria such as complexity, attractiveness, unusual challenges, completion time, workmanship, innovation, safety and budget. Projects receiving the highest ratings for their category received an Award of Excellence and entries that the judges felt were exceptional but that received fewer points received an Award of Merit.

Specifically, Lauren was selected to receive the Excellence in Construction Award based on its role as the EPC contractor for FPL’s Martin Solar Energy Center. This project, completed in December of 2010, represented the first Solar Hybrid project in the world to connect to an existing combined cycle power plant. The project was completed ahead of schedule and over $75M under budget, with no recordable injuries.
