ABILENE, TX – – January 24, 2011– The Lauren Corporation, a leading Design-Build contractor in the United Sates, announces today that Tushar Shahane has been named Director of India Operations. Shahane’s strong background managing large-scale projects, and his experience working in India and throughout the United States, makes him the ideal individual to lead Lauren’s efforts in the India market.

A 15 year veteran of the Engineering and Construction industry, Shahane has helped to successfully manage a variety of Design-Build projects, including a Zinc reclamation facility in South Carolina and a 75MW Concentrated Solar Power plant in Indiantown, FL. Shahane graduated from Case Western Reserve University with a Master of Science in Construction Engineering and Management, and received a Bachelor of Civil Engineering degree from Shivagi University in India.

“Lauren is focused on expanding our business portfolio in India by providing engineering and construction management services to the India power market, especially Concentrated Solar Thermal Power (CSP). Tushar has the skills and experience to lead these efforts and realize our business goals,” says Cleve Whitener, Lauren’s Chief Executive Officer.

Shahane will be responsible for promoting Lauren’s solar expertise and EpCM (Engineering and Construction Management) services for the CSP market in India. Lauren has already established key partnerships in India to achieve this goal and is working towards securing contracts for several CSP facilities in India, as part of the Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission.

The Government-Sponsored Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission has provided a timeline for developing a large number of solar projects in India over the next decade. Specifically, The Mission has set a target of 20,000MW and stipulates implementation and achievement of the target in three phases: Phase One from 2012 to 13; Phase Two from 2013 to 2017; and Phase Three from 2017 to 2022.

“I am very excited to serve in this role and to help Lauren forge new relationship and seize new opportunities within the fast-growing Indian market,” says Shahane.

Prior to serving in this role, Shahane served as a project manager on several projects throughout the United States. Most recently, he served as a key project manager for the 75 MW Marin Solar Energy Center – the second largest solar plant worldwide and the first hybrid solar facility in the world to connect to an existing combined-cycle power plant.
