FPL’s Martin Next Generation Solar Energy Center (MSEC)– a 75 MW Concentrating Solar Power Plant in South Florida– recently was selected as Project of the Year by Power Engineering in the category of Best Renewable Energy Project.

Each year Power Engineering awards the Project of the Year title in three categories: Best Coal-Fired Project, Best Gas-Fired Project, and Best Renewable Energy Project. The projects are judged by a panel of editors from Power Engineering based on innovation, environmental impact, and benefits to the local community.

Lauren Engineers & Constructors served as the EPC contractor on this project.

]]> Lauren Selected to Provide Engineering and Construction Services to Holly Refining & Marketing’s Woods Cross Refinery Expansion Project 2012/01/04/lauren-selected-to-provide-engineering-and-construction-services-to-holly-refining-marketings-woods-cross-refinery-expansion-project/ Wed, 04 Jan 2012 07:41:36 +0000 http://laurentest.com/?p=575 Lauren Engineers & Constructors is currently providing engineering and construction services to HollyFrontier Corporation in association with a project to expand capacity at Holly Refining & Marketing’s Woods Cross Refinery’s 31,000 bpd Woods Cross, Utah refinery to 45,000 bpd.

The expansion scope includes the relocation / revamp of crude, fluid catalytic cracking, and polymerization units to Woods Cross, as well an installation of the associated Woods Cross utilities and off-sites.

The project is expected to be completed in 2014.

Lauren has performed a number of engineering and construction projects for HollyFrontier, including the addition of a ROSE unit, Naphtha splitter, JP8 unit and Gas-Oil Hydrotreater at HollyFrontier’s Artesia, NM Refinery.

In this role, Jack will have global responsibility in the areas of Marketing and Business Development for all Lauren operations and subsidiaries.

Mr. Shoemate joined Lauren in October 2002 and has served as the engineering manager for Lauren’s Irving office, and, most recently, as Executive Vice President of Marketing and Business Development for Lauren Engineers & Constructors US and International operations.

Mr. Shoemate has over 40 years of engineering design and project management experience in the power generation, petroleum refining and process industries. He previously was Partner of Tippett & Gee, an Abilene-based Engineering firm acquired by Lauren in 2002.

Mr. Shoemate is actively involved in the community, having served on the United Way of Abilene Board of Directors and the program committee for the Kiwanis Club of Abilene. Currently, he serves as a Deacon and Pastor Prayer Partner’s leader at First Baptist Dallas.

Mr. Shoemate holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Texas A&M University and is a Professional Engineer.
