ABILENE, TX, FEBRUARY 5, 2013: BAE Systems recently awarded Lauren Engineers and Constructors (Lauren) an Engineering and Construction contract for a combustion turbine facility within the Holston Army Ammunition Plant in Kingsport, Tennessee.
The scope involves supplying a natural gas-fired turbine/generator and auxiliary equipment with all engineering and construction services necessary for the installation of a new plant. The plant will generate six megawatts of electricity and 70,000 pounds per hour of process steam. Engineering is scheduled to start in the first quarter of 2013, while construction will begin during the second quarter.
“This is the first combustion turbine/generator to be installed at the Holston plant,” said Jerry Hobbs, Project Manager. “It will reduce emissions as well as operating expenses for Holston, and Lauren is honored to continue working with BAE at this site.”
